The ski tracks of Pamporovo have all degrees of difficulty and is particularly well suited to beginners and intermediates having one of the best ski schools in Europe. The long greens and blues, as well as the nursery slopes down in the village are ideal for learning and progressing on. Ski and snow board instruction is of an extremely high standard and, because Bulgaria is so easy on the wallet, individual tuition can be very affordable. Many of the instructors also speak English fluently. Confident intermediates and advanced skiers will find a World Cup run and some interesting through-the-trees off piste.

Most of the tracks start from the very peak. In the 9 ski-wardrobes near the tracks, you can find over 2000 ski outfits and equipment, snow-boards and sleighs. Skiers who bring their own equipment can also use these wardrobes for safe keeping.
 

There is something for everyone in Pamporovo. The après ski is quite lively and there are restaurants to suit adult and child tastes alike. You can relax in the alpine bars and restaurants or retire to the Cedar Hights apartment complex.

The main town has several restaurants and bars and caters for all ages. There is a wide range of food available but with Beer under £1 per pint and less than £5 for a meal it is cheap enough to eat out every night, ski every day and still save money on your time here compared to living in England.

In the summer months the tourist associates Pamporovo with mountain quiet and calm, multi-colored and lush meadows and evergreen coniferous forests. Among the nearby sites worth visiting are the Smolyan Lakes and the wonderful village of Shiroka Laka. Flights are avaiable from most airports in the UK to SOFIA or PLOVDIV.

Transfer times are approx 2.5 hours from Sofia and 1.5 hours from Plovdiv; the drive from Sofia is very easy.

Guide To Pamporovo Ski
Pamporovo provides excellent ski runs for all levels of difficulty, most starting from the Snejanka peak above the resort. Off the slopes there are numerous places for entertainment and interesting tourist attractions; the Rhodope Mountain region is interesting for its folk traditions and culture. Pamporovo is a modern ski resort, one of the largest in Bulgaria and one of the most popular in Eastern Europe. At the heart of the Rhodope Mountains, Pamporovo, located within the Municipality of Chepelare, is the sunniest Bulgarian winter ski resort situated at an altitude of 5,413ft (1,650m) and has wonderful snow throughout the season. The area has no history of major avalanches or violent changes in the weather making it a safe and relaxing place for ski, snowboard, cross country ski or snow hike. The ski slopes in the resort are perfectly maintained throughout the whole season. The capacity of the lifts in the resort is 8600 persons per hour. The total length of the ski slopes in Pamporovo is 55 km. Over 10 million BGN were invested in the improvement of the ski zone of the resort for the past three years. The resort also offers a 150 m long and 3 m high half – pipe, which provides great conditions for snowboarding. The unique Mediterranean climate is extremely healthy and provides excellent conditions for climatic therapy and health tourism all year round. Pamporovo is undergoing an intense development and expansion. The Perelik Sport Development Project is set to link Pamporovo to the nearby resort of Chepelare and nearby villages, increasing pistes length to over 200km in total.At the present moment most of the hotels in Pamporovo are 4 -star and offer a wide range of facilities - spa, indoor-swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, golf club, etc. PAMPOROVO SKI FACILITIES Pamporovo has excellent skiing and snowboarding facilities - 27 km of high-class ski runs and 39km of off-pistes cross-country tracks. Eighteen lifts (including a new 4-seater) have the capacity to serve 9000 skiers every hour. The ski pistes offer different level of difficulty - from super advanced (The wall) to beginners (the Tourist Track - 4km long). In Pamporovo you can find ski and snowboard schools with over a hundred qualified English speaking teachers/instructors. Daily lift pass is less than 20 pounds and at a half price for the kids. Ski rental equipment is also available at several locations.

PAMPOROVO ATTRACTIONS The nearest attractions to Pamporovo are Chepelare ski resort 10km Northeast, the architectural preserve of Shiroka Luka 15km West and the Wonder Bridges a natural phenomena 35 km North. Do not miss the panoramic cafe of the TV tower on Mount Snezhanka, and its observation gallery giving a splendid view toward the mountains. Activities The Ski season in Pamprovo comes hand in hand with a full programme of events and activities, ranging from bum-boarding to a raucous ski-instructor’s show. Bowling is offered at hotels, ice-skating, skidoos and tobogganing are popular pastimes, and excursions to nearby places of interest and Sofia are on offer. The area has many good starting points for hiking, mountain biking or horseback riding around the region. Trails that cross the main ridges in southern Bulgaria, Mt. Chernatitsa, Perelink, and Prespa can be accessed from here. Night Life PAMPOROVO APRE SKI Plenty of pubs, restaurants and night clubs in Pamporovo offer a great value for money. A large beer of 500ml is less than £1, and a basic meal is approximately 2-3 £. Food varies from cheap local traditional cuisine (kebapche, kyufte, tarator, shopska salad) to Greek and Mediterranean specialties and Italian specialties. Après ski in Pamporovo is lively with plenty of options to choose from, whether you prefer sipping wine in a cosy piano bar, or partying the night away in a club.
